VIRAL " SEVEN TESTED POSITIVE BEFORE PARLIAMENT SITTING ON MONDAY - SAYS HEALTH DG "

PETALING JAYA: Seven individuals were found to be COVID-19 positive from a screening done prior to the parliamentary sitting on Monday (Nov 02), says Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Bin Abdullah.

The Health Director of General said from the screening, an auxiliary policeman tested positive for the Virus of COVID-19.

" The contact tracing that was done found that three of his colleagues including his wife also tested positive now. Here, we have five (5) cases already," he said during his press briefing on Monday (Nov 02, 2020).

He also said a Senator's assistant was confirmed positive for the virus, but 12 other have quarantined all 12 of them. We are still waiting for their results," he said.

Dr Noor Hisham noted that as Parliament will sit for six (6) weeks, thus, the MPs will be exposed to the virus.

As such, he said to prevent the spread of the virus, the ministry may perhaps conduct testing every two (2) weeks to detect any carriers of the virus.

" The transmission infectivity is two (2) days before one (1) shows symptoms and seven (7) days after the symptoms. So it will take about nine (9) days for the infectivity (period)," he said.

To manage the risk, Dr Noor Hisham said all MPs have to comply with the standard operating procedure such as maintaining physical distancing, washing hands, and wearing a face mask.
