VIRAL " Malaysian Government Reducing 14 Days Mandatory Quarantine Period - COVID 19"

PUTRAJAYA :The Malaysian Government may consider reducing the 14 days mandatory quarantine duration required for travellers arriving in Malaysia, reported by Health Ministry.

Its director - general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah announced many countries impose a shorter period for quarantine compared with Malaysia's 14 days mandatory ruling.

" We are aware that some countries impose lesser days for quarantine, some require seven (7) days while some are 10 days.

" We might shorten the 14 days requirement, but we will look at the current data and what risks are involved.

" Whatever decision made must be substantiated by data, " said Dr Noor Hisham at the ministry's COVID -19.

Currently, the country's policy demands all travellers arriving in the country at its entry points to be tested for COVID -19.

Those who test positive will be taken to a hospital for treatment, while those who are negative will be quarantine for 14 days at allocated centres, including hotels.

The traveller will be tested for a second (2) time, either on the 13th day of their stay or if they develop symptoms.

Since April 03, 2020, a total of 1,347 travellers have tested positive after arriving in the country.

On Friday Dec 04, 2020, there were three (3) import cases, involving arrivals from Bangladesh, United Arab Emirates and Indonesia.
