PETALING JAYA, SELANGOR :
The health ministry has reported five (5) new COVID -19 clusters in the country over the last 24 hours, health director - general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.
In a press conference, he said they are the Jalan Duyong and Pasar Jalan Sentosa clusters in Selangor; Jalan Nakhoda cluster in Kuala Lumpur; Ehsan Ibol cluster in Perak; and the Telok Mas cluster in Melaka.
The Jalan Duyong cluster in Klang, Selangor was detected on December 31, 2020 from workplace screening. A total of 536 people have been screened, of which 110 tested are positive COVID - 19.
The Pasar Jalan Sentosa cluster in Kuala Lumpur district, Selangor was detected when the index case tested positive on January 03, 2021. Out of the total of 293 people who have been screened, 61 tested are positive COVID-19.
The Jalan Nakhoda cluster in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur was detected through workplace screening on December 28, 2020. As of today, a total of 99 people have been screened with 14 testing positive.
Th Ehsan Ibol cluster consisted of several districts in Perak, namely Hulu Langar, Larut, Matang and Selama, as well as Gombak district in Selangor. The cluster arose when the index case was detected positive on January 04, 2021. A total of 40 people have been screened with 22 testing positive so far.
The Telok Mas cluster involved a detention centre in Melaka Tengah. Two index cases were detected on January 01, 2021. As of today, A total of 33 people have been screened with 13 testing positive COVID -19.
