4 New Clusters COVID-19 In Sarawak
KUALA LUMPUR:
Health Director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said of the eight (8) New Clusters COVID-19, five (5) were workplace-related clusters while the rest were community-related clusters.
The five (5) workplace clusters are Kasawari, Jalan Desaria, Jalan Bambangan, Jalan Badaruddin and Jalan Zainab, while Nanga Kelangas, Abak Bon and Meruntum were community clusters of COVID-19 in our country.
The Kasawari cluster in the district of Kuala Langat, Selangor, reported its first positive case on April 11, 2021 as a result of targeted screenings at a factory located on Jalan Kasawari, Kebun Baru Industrial Estate, in Telok Panglima Garang.
" As of today, a total of 198 individuals have been screened, of which 49 cases were positive for COVID-19.
" The Jalan Desaria cluster involves the Sepang, Gombak, and Hulu Langat districts in Selangor, where the index case was identified on April 08,2021 at a public institution located at Jalan Desaria, Kampung Pulau Meranti, Puchong. The ministry conducted a total of 193 screenings, of which 13 cases were positive.
" The third cluster, Jalan Bambangan, is also workplace cluster involving Mukah and Dalat, Sarawak."
The index case for this cluster was reported positive on April 07, 2021 as a result of symptomatic individual screening at a school located at Jalan Bambangan, Mukah.
" As of today, 30 out 72 tested have turned out positive in the Bambangan cluster."
The index case for the Jalan Badaruddin workplace cluster in Kuching and Samarahan, Sarawak was reported positive on April 07, 2021 involving a public administration centre in Jalan Badaruddin, Kuching, Sarawak.
" A total of 91 individuals had been screened, of which 17 tested positive and the workplace cluster in Kelantan, the Jalan Zainab cluster involved Pasir Puteh, Bachok, Kota Bharu, Pasir Mas and Tumpat.
" The index case for this cluster was reported positive on April 06, 2021. This cluster involves a company located at Jalan Sultanah Zainab, Kota Bharu where 51 out of 286 individuals screened were positive," Dr. Noor Hisham said.
Meanwhile, 37 out of 57 screened in the Nanga Kelangas cluster in Julau, Sarawak tested positive for the virus, of which the index case tested positive on April 04, 2021.
" The last two community clusters, Abak Bon in Miri and Subis in Sarawak; and Meruntum in Putatan and Panampang, Sabah are longhouse clusters and social gathering clusters, respectively.
"Abak Bon recorded 34 new cases yesterday while Meruntum recorded eight (8) out of the 72 who were tested."
As of noon April 11, 2021, 1, 116 clusters have ended.
" There are 343 active clusters at the moment with 50 clusters still recording new cases. The most significant spike appeared to be in the Tapak Bina Cybersouth (180 cases), Jalan Kasawari (49) and Telok Mas (44) clusters."
