Teenagers aged between 12 to 17 will begin receiving vaccine shots under the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK), coordinating minister Khairy Jamaluddin said on August 13, 2021.
In a Twitter post, he said jabs would be given to teenagers with underlying medical conditions first, followed by those with no medical issues based on age de-escalation.
" An announcement will be made next week by JKJAV on how COVID-19 vaccinations for adolescents will be implemented as per health updated clinical guidelines, " he said, referring to the Special Committee for Ensuring Access to COVID-19 Vaccine Supply.
On July 15, 2021, the government gave the green light for the Pfizer vaccine to be administered to children aged 12 and above.
About 42% of the adult population have been fully vaccinated so far while nearly 71% have received a first dose.
