22,802 NEW COVID-19 CASES PUSH TOTAL INFECTIONS 3 MILLION PAST

22,802 MALAYSIA'S NEW COVID-19 CASES PUSH TOTAL INFECTIONS PAST 3 MILLION

KUALA LUMPUR, FEBRUARY 12, 2022

The Health Ministry (MoH) was reported about 22,802 new COVID-19 cases in that day, bringing the cumulative tally of new cases past the 3 Million mark.

The last time that Malaysia country saw infections in this numerical range was on September 10, 2021 when 21, 176 cases were recorded in year 2021.

However, Health director-general Tan Sri Noor Hisham Abdullah said only 104 or 4.6 per cenn of today's new cases fall under Category 3, 4 and category 5, which require the hospitalisation action.

The rest are in Category 1 and Category 2, meaning they are asymptomatic or only have mild symptoms.

" The number of daily Coronavirus infections reported was 22, 802 cases, for a cumulative total of 3,019,163 cases," in his Twitter he wrote and posting on February 12, 2022.

Only 94 out of the new cases are imported while the bulk are local transmission affecting 22,113 Malaysians and 595 non-Malaysians.

The newly transmitted cases are still far more than the daily recoveries, with only 5,442 individuals declared free of the virus today.

Currently, there are 176 individuals in intensive care, with 82 of them confirmed COVID-19 patients and 98 ( 40 of the confirmed cases ) requiring breathing assistance.

On February 07, 2022, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin announced that the Omicron Variant wave that has officially hit Malaysia is expected to peak at the end of March, 2022.

However, he said this was the ministry's best estimation to date, and not a finality, as it continues to monitor the rise in COVID-19 cases.

Although the daily numbers remain on an upward trajectory, most of the cases are in Category 1 and Category 2 which do not require hospitalisation.
