ALL CHILDREAN GET VACCINATION SOON - SARAWAK

  

PETALING JAYA, SELANGOR :Sarawak's rate of vaccinated children under 12 years old is the best in the country, according to the Health Ministry's COVIDNow Database, but Malaysia's largest state (Sarawak) still lags behind the national average for other age groups.

 

According to data updated on March 10, 2022, about 60.6% of children in Sarawak state have received their first dose, well ahead of the 42.5% who have been partially vaccinated in Melaka State, which is the second highest. Second doses for children have yet to begin rolling out.

 

Taken as a whole, about 30.9% of children in the country have received their first dose.

 

Sarawak and Melaka State are followed by Penang State (40.6%), Johor (37.7%), Klang Valley (37%), Negeri Sembilan (33.5%), Labuan (32.8%), Perak (32.3%), Pahang (23.2%), Perlis (22%), Kedah (18.8%), Sabah (17.9%), Terenggnu (10%) and Kelantan State (8.6%).

 

In the category of vaccinated adolescents aged 12 to 17 years old, Sabah fares worst with 74.1%, far behind the national average of 91.1%. Kelantan State (83.9%), Pahang (85.3), and Sarawak (90.5%) are the other states recording below the national average.

 

Sabah is also worst in the adult category with only 76.8% of the adult population fully vaccinated. The national average is 95.5%.

 

The other states below the national average are Kelantan State (79.9%), Pahang (87%), Perak (88.2%), Kedah (88.5%), Sarawak (90.9%), Terengganu (91.9%), and Melaka (92.8%).
