MUDA SCORES MAIDEN ELECTORAL WIN IN PUTERI WANGSA (N41) - JOHOR ELECTION ON MARCH 12, 2022

 


JOHOR BAHARU :The Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (MUDA) win only in Puteri Wangsa will be the start for the party to set its feet on the country's political ground, says President Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.


MUDA candidate Amira Aisya Abd Aziz was scored MUDA's maiden election victory when she won the Puteri Wangsa (N41) seat with a majority of 7,114 votes.


She managed to garner 22,884 votes in the six-cornered fight for the seat. Her closest rival, Barisan Nasional's Ng Yew Aik, managed to pic up 15,770 votes, while Perikatan's Loh Kah Yong received 8,597 votes.


The other three (3) candidates in the seat Parti Bangsa Malaysia's Steven Choon (2,471 votes), Pejuang's Dr Khairil Anwar Razali (2,468) and Independent candidate Adzrin Adam (398) all lost their deposits.


" What important now is that we will continue to serve the people, win or lose," he said during a press conference at the MUDA election machinery heaquarters in Tebrau here.


He added that he also thanked the first-time voters who had voted for the MUDA candidates.


" We have not lost our deposits in all the seats that we contested, and in the majority of the seats where we contested, our candidates have come in second place.


" We have 30% to 35% of votes from the youth, and I would like to say thank you for their trust in MUDA," he added.


Meanwhile, Amira, who is also MUDA's secretary-general, said that her win was not hers alone but a win for MUDA as a whole.


" This is the first time MUDA has contested in an election and the people of Johor have given us this much trust.


" What is important now is that we will prove to the Johoreans that we can give our best service to them," she said, adding that her victory was also contributed to by her relentless election machinery.


Besides Amira, the other MUDA candidates were R. Sangaran (Machap), Azrol Rahani (Bukit Permai), Fikri Musa (Parit Raja), Rasid Abu Bakar (Larkin), Nurafiqah M. Zulkifli (Bukit Kepong) and Lim Wei Jiet (Tenang).
