2130 pm: Newly minted Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said his government now has the convincing majority to lead the country.

" We are appreciated of the fact that we now have the commitment of all 30 MPs from Barisan Nasional," he said.

Anwar said Sarawak Primier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has provided the assurance that GPS will be part and parcel of the unity government.

He added that the government formed under his leadership has a convincing majority with the support of other parties including Warisan.

Confidence vote in new government to be tabled on December 19, 2022, says PM in response to Muhyiddin.

Next Monday, November 28, 2022 will be a public holiday, said newly-appointed Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

" I will discuss with the chief secretary because I have promised for a holiday on Monday this week, but this wasn't settled last Monday.

" God-willing, this (impasse) is settled today (November 24, 2022) and I will fulfil my promise to have a holiday next Monday, " said Anwar in a press conference at a golf club in Sungai Long.

2122pm: A Parliamentary seating will be held on December 19, 2022, and the first order of business besides the oath taking ceremony will be a motion of confidence to prove the legitimacy of the government formed, said Anwar.

" So the concern of legitimacy will not arise," he said in response to Perikatan Nasional chief Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for him to prove that he has the numbers.

2119pm: The unity government under the leadership of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will encompass three (3) major coalitions, namely Pakatan Harapan, Barisan Nasional and GPS, the newly minted prime minister said in his maiden press conference tonight.

Near the start of his press conference, Anwar apologised as he needed to take a phone call from Turkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

" I'm asking for a bit more time as the Turkiye President requested to speak with me.

" I tried getting him (Erdogan) for two (2) hours just now, so I apologise," said Anwar briefly.

2 hours ago: Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) secretary-general Baru Bian has congratulated Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on his appointment as Primie Minister.

" We are thankful that a leader who has consistently championed truth and justice has finally been vindicated and given an opportunity to lead our country during this challenging time," he said in a statement.

Baru also called for a national truth and reconciliation  commission to be set up as a move towards national rebuilding.
