THREE DIE WHILE LINING UP TO CAST VOTES GE15

PETALING JAYA SELANGOR, NOVEMBER 19, 2022:Three (3) people died while queueing up to cast their votes on November 19, 2022, said Inspector-General of Police Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani.

At a press conference in Gombak, Acryl Sani also announced that in another incident, a man believed to be mentally unsound created a scene by grabbing an ink bottle from the officer on duty and toppling the ballot box at a voting centre in Ulu Yam, Hulu Selangor.

" Checks showed that the individual has a record of being treated for a mental disorder," he was quoted as saying in Berita Harian.

As for the deaths, all three involved voters who were lining up to cast their votes.

" There was one case in Kota Baru Kelantan, and two (2) in Johor Baharu, " he said.

Acryl Sani said he spent time also at four (4) voting centres, namely SK Desa Amanpuri (Damansara), SK Intan Baiduri, (Kepong), SK Setapak Indah (Batu)and SK Sungai Kertas (Gombak).

He said that despite finding them crowded in the morning, the situation was under control.

" This reflects Malaysian's maturity in fulfilling their responsibilities as citizens in a calm and peaceful manner," he said.

Touching on the preparedness of police ahead of polling results tonight, he advised all parties to graciously accept any result.

" We are ready for any possible situation," he said.
