VOTING IN BARAM, MIRI SARAWAK SUSPENDED
PETALING JAYA, SELANGOR: Voting for the Baram, Miri seat in Sarawak has been suspended due to bad weather.
The suspension of voting has affected 11 centres, said the Election Commission (EC) in a statement.
" Officials are not able to reach the centres by air, land or water," said EC chairman Abdul Ghani Salleh.
" New polling dates with be notified at a later date when it is safe for officials and voters to get to the polling station," he added.
Earlier on November 19, 2022, (Saturday), Bernama reported that bad weather prevented election officials from getting to 24 of the 194 polling centres in Baram, Miri.
The suspended voting in Baram means that the EC will only announce results 220 parliamentary seats after that days polls.
The EC had set December 07, 2022 for polling for the Padang Serai parliamentary seat in Kedah following the death of Pakatan Harapan's candidate for the seat, M Karupaiya, on Wednesday.
