MIRI HOUSE FIRE INJURES ONE, DESTROYS HOME - MIRI SARAWAK

MIRI (March 26, 2025): A 37-year-old man sustained a minor burn on his shoulder, while his mother and younger brother escaped unhurt when their family’s home in Kampung Lopeng Tengah here was destroyed in a fire earlier today.

 

Zone 6 Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) chief Ismaidi Ismail, when contacted, said a car and a motorcycle was also completely destroyed in the fire.

 

“Our forensic team is currently doing investigation to determine the cause of the fire,” he said.

 

In a statement, Bomba stated they received a distress call about the incident at 6.24am, and 11 firefighters from the Lopeng fire station were dispatched to the scene.

 

“Upon arrival, the fire had already destroyed around 80 per cent of the double-storey semi-permanent house. The firefighters immediately worked to extinguish the flames using both attacking and defensive techniques to prevent further spread,” it added.

 

Bomba said the fire was brought under control at 7.15am, with the operation concluding at 8.21am.
